Thanks a million - Highlights from our recent Home Assignment!

The Q2016 Quiz Team from PNG
It's never too late to say thank you right!?
We arrived back on Kudjip Station on Oct. 27th.  Yes, it has already been 3 months since returning from the US.  And it has been very busy!   But before any more time goes by we want to just highlight some of our time in the US this past summer.
First, I will be careful about mentioning specific names because undoubtedly I will miss some key players.  The Lord allowed us the wonderful privilege of meeting and spending time with some amazing children of His!  We have seen how warm and friendly and generous our family of God can be.  Thank you to everyone!  You know how God allowed our paths to cross and please know that we have felt blessed all along the way!
At the Indians game, Indians came from behind and won on
an in the park home run, the rally hats worked!
We left PNG a little earlier than our scheduled Home Assignment (HA) due to my need to take the Pediatric Board Certification Exam which comes around every 10 years.  I was permitted a study week and time for the exam.  God was once again faithful and helped me through the exam process for which I am extremely thankful!
We, including Jessica, then traveled by van to Southern Nazarene University in Oklahoma City with Jeff's folks, sister and brother-in-law and nephew for Q2016.  We had a great time there!
Our PNG MK Quiz team did an awesome job and made us all very proud.  Ethan was on the team and was fantastic!
Of the 6 children of Jim and Kathy Radcliffe, 4 are now married.  Jeff and I got to attend our first Radcliffe wedding uniting Cilla with Wyatt Mills.  It was beautiful and a special blessing in and of itself and it allowed us to visit with many long time friends with connections both Stateside and from PNG.
Ethan starting his Freshman year at MVNU.
Between fitting in eye exams, dentist appointments and physicals we got going on our speaking schedule.   We visited churches in Florida, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.  Again, we made some amazing new friends and ask God's blessing on each one as they continue to serve God through a variety of avenues.
My side of the family spent a week at the Jersey Shore following Erma Holiness Camp Meeting and the adults on the Myers' side of the family spent a long week-end over Labor Day at the cabin in Pennsylvania.  Both opportunities to share with family were a special blessing and will be treasured in our hearts for many years to come!
A summer isn't complete without a trip to Progressive Field for a Cleveland Indians game and what a game it was! The Indians won and we got free Fedoras, hot dogs for a $1 and fireworks after the game!!  We also spent a day at Cedar Point, an amusement park, which was loads of fun!  Of course, re-connecting with long time friends is a high point as well and was enjoyed thoroughly!  Thank you all for being willing to work with our crazy schedule to make these special times happen!!  We enjoyed our times with you and look forward to the next time we can make it happen!
The biggest change for our family of four this HA was putting Ethan in college and coming home as empty nesters. God has been with each of us and we survived!  Ethan has now completed his first semester at MVNU and is doing extremely well!  We are very proud of him and his accomplishments thus far.  Jessica will be graduating from MVNU in April.  Lord willing we will make it home for that special event!
Cape May Lighthouse, New Jersey.
Another special treat for me was being in the same country when one of my great nieces was born!  I love all the nieces and nephews and would have liked to be around for all their graduations, weddings and the birth of their little ones.  But...that just isn't possible.  So, it was very sweet to actually see one of these special gifts from God within a few days of her birth!  Thank you little Tambre Grace for accommodating us!!

Of course, there are many more blessings we could share from little tiny ones, to big huge ones!! (Like one of MVNU's professors allowing us to borrow his car for 2 months!!  That was huge!)  As each Home Assignment comes near it is easy to allow Satan to raise questions and concerns in our hearts and minds about how everything is going to work out.  Things like where we will stay, what we will drive, scheduling services, raising enough deputation funds to cover our expenses on the field as well as to take advantage of the wonderful opportunities the church provides for putting money aside for retirement and medical expenses and more.  But...every time we head home we are reminded of God's faithfulness and yours.   Thank you  for your obedience in responding to the Lord's prompting in your giving and in your prayers.  He knows what we need and when we need it. And He knows how He will meet those needs and who He will involve.  We are thankful we can partner together to accomplish what God wants to accomplish here in PNG and we are amazed and thankful that He allows us to share in it!!!!
