A Bright Spot in the Day!

The pediatric ward at any given time has lots of kiddos with pneumonia.  A certain percentage of these kids will develop pulmonary hypertension and need to stay in the hospital longer for oxygen therapy and will continue on medications for months, perhaps years, after discharge.  They also tend to decompensate pretty quickly with each and every respiratory infection.  This little guy's name is Michael and he has pulmonary hypertension and is what we call a "frequent flyer" since he has been admitted to the ward on numerous occasions.  In this picture he is about to go home.   Isn't his smile amazing!!   If ever you are having a bad day, his precious face will surely brighten things up!!

Please continue to partner with us in prayer for all the little ones we have the privilege to care for day after day.  In addition to all the pneumonia patients we have had a lot of infants with meningitis over the past few weeks.  Some of them have recovered well and we expect great things long term.  Some, however, suffered some level of brain injury from their infection.  Please pray for them and their parents as they begin to adjust their thinking and hopes and dreams for these little ones.  Pray, too, for the Lord's direction for our medical staff as we provide the best we have for the sick who come to Nazarene Hospital.
