What do you see at Christmas?

What do you see at Christmasthe birth of a Savioror just another holiday?

Mary – do you see a young girl who is pregnant and not married yet – or do you see a woman as Elizabeth saw her, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear” (Luke 1:42)  The angel said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored!  The Lord is with you.”  The angel continued, “Do not be afraid, you have found favor with God.”  WOW!   Mary is a young woman the age of 12 to 16 and is not yet married and living with Joseph.  If she is found to be pregnant, as was the custom of that day, she could be stoned to death for being unfaithful to Joseph since she was betrothed to him.  I have to believe that as the angel is telling her this she is thinking about what this means.  And yet, verse 38 says,  “I am the Lord’s servant Mary answered, May it be to me as you have said.”  That is strong belief in God!  That is belief in God knowing he will work it all out according to His will.  We can see why God chose Mary to be the mother of Jesus.   What about you?  Is there something you need to trust God about, something that you need to give him?  God is mighty and able to help us in all that we do or that he asks of us.  Trust Him!
This week, leading up to Christmas, I would like to look at the characters in the Christmas story.   How do we see them, how do we see Christmas?
