One of my responsibilities at Nazarene Hospital is to oversee Chaplain Ministry. We have 4 Chaplains serving at Nazarene Hospital; 2 full-time and 2 part-time. Chaplain Taima has been here the longest and he was the very first National District Superintendent for the Nazarene Church in PNG. He has a real passion for winning the lost and for close follow-up after discharge. Because of this passion numerous new churches have been started. Chaplain Regina has been here since we came in 2001. She has a sweet spirit and a special love for the children. Our female patients, too, are vey open with Regina as she shares God word with them. Chaplains Moses and Lucy came in 2008. They make a great team as they both serve our many patients. Moses is also currently going to school at Melanesian Bible College part-time to earn his Bachelor's Degree.

Like all of you involved in some form of ministry, our Chaplains need times of Spiritual enrichment and encouragement. In an attempt to provide for them in this area, and for the first time ever, we had a Chaplain Retreat in May of this year. We shared a week-end together learning about God's calling on our lives as pastors, teachers, prophets, evangelists and apostles. We discussed how we may serve in different roles at different times in our hospital ministry and how some may be more gifted in one area than another. We also had the privilage of hearing God's voice through Rev. Harmon Schmelzenbach, our Field Strategy Co-ordinator. It was a wonderful week-end! We hope to continue to have at least yearly retreats in the future.

The retreat was not designed for the families of our Chaplains. So, when we decided to have another gathering we decided to include the whole family! We had 15 come and join the Myers 4 in the back yard for games, a brief devotional and a cook-out! It was alot of fun and gave us opportunity to get to know one another better!
Pray for our Chaplains as they look after the Spiritual needs of our patients. Every patient admitted to Nazarene hospital is visted by one of our Chaplains almost daily. We are thankful for these committed men and women of God who serve so faithfully!
