In November we posted an article about our deputation trail. It is now time to update you again! From November through the 1st weekend of January we have spent a little more time on the East Ohio District and the West Texas District. Harvest Church of the Nazarene is a new church on the East Ohio District. They are currently meeting in an Inn in Sugarcreek. The Spirit was good in our time of worship and fellowship. We were able to spend time with some old friends as well as make new ones!
A few days after our experience in Sugarcreek we were flying the friendly skies and on our way to Texas. This was the only District tour (not counting services on our own/home district) for which we pulled the kids out of school to join us. We had a great time!! Some of the churches we visited included Wedgwood, Euless, Denton 1st, Christ City and Arlington 1st! The people were great and we thoroughly enjoyed our services and times of sharing. We had the pleasure of meeting the father and sister of our Field Strategy Coordinator, James Johnson and were ecstatic to be able to visit with Debi, Megan and John Berk in Ada, OK!! We also got to visit some of the toursity type places including; The Chester Nimitz WW II museum in Fredericksburg, the Stockyards of Ft. Worth, the Dallas World Aquarium, Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum and a Dinosaur Park where we got to see real dinosaur footprints! It was way cool!
Thanks to all of our Nazarene family on the West Texas District for your many kindnesses shown and your prayer and support of us and radio and hospital ministries in PNG!
We returned to Ohio a few days before Thanksgiving and were feeling very thankful an began anticipating and preparing ourselves for the Holidays with family... the first time since 2000!! However, deputating wasn't over yet! We spoke at Susan's parents church, Shepherd's Hill CON in Louisville, Ohio. It is always special to be with family. Susan's older brother and sister and their families were able to be there and then we all enjoyed a meal together, including Susan's younger brother and family who joined us for dinner. God is good! Thanks guys!
We experienced a respite during the remaining weeks of December but stayed busy with all the activities of school and Christmas and, of course, corresponding with churches for the remainder of our Home Assignment and speaking tours! The first Sunday in the New Year found us at the Stratton, Irondale and Shadyside Nazarene churches. We always enjoy our time with Pastor Steve Jonhson and his family and this time was no exception. Always good to be with friends!
